Moconá
Provincial Park is a very well conserved jungle area of 999
hectares within the Yabotí Biosphere Reserve (Program Man
& Biosphere by UNESCO) of 240,000 hectares. The
wonderful falls of Moconá (in Guaraní “The one that
swallows everything”) are unique. Produced by the collapse
of part of the bed of the Uruguay River, the 20 m high falls
stretch to a distance of almost 3,000 m.
It
is important to point out that due to the variable height of
the river the falls are not always visible. When the river
is low they are truly magnificent, however if it happens to
be high they simply cannot be seen - nature decides!
