The
central landscape of Misiones resembles a series of hills
from which numerous pathways of streams and torrents of
water cut through the earth to eventually disgorge into the
rivers of Parana, Uruguay and Iguazú. In the higher parts
of the land can be found the last remains of the Paraná
Jungle, which used to cover the majority of Misiones now a
day protected with in 17 Parks and Natural Refugees covering
15,4% of provincial surface.
Protection
aloud us to register more than 2000 flower plants, 70
reptiles and 50 mammals, including the amazing Yaguareté
(Leo Onca)
The
American Jaguar, locally known as Yaguareté (Leo Onca) is
the biggest depredator in Paraná Jungle, it presence means
that the area is well conserved.
It
has been hunted for several years, until Misiones Government
created a new conservation status: “Natural Monument”.
Today the Yaguareté lives in small numbers in the
Provincial and National Parks.
We
suggest visiting the natural environment where he lives and
guided by a former hunter try to follow his tracks trough
the jungle. |
